SOLD!

Well, it finally happened and it happened fast!  After 16 months on the market, I’m still in shock that we actually sold it.  We hadn’t had any showings in over a month, then finally had one on the afternoon of July 5th.  They came back for a second look the next day at noon and we got their offer that night.  We spent almost 24 hours going back and forth until they accepted one of our counteroffers.  They wanted to close on the 30th which was just over 3 weeks later.  It got pushed back a day and we closed this morning.  It’s been a crazy 3 weeks and I’m so glad it’s finally over with.  We quickly found a house to rent and have spent the past 2 weeks moving and cleaning.  The house we are renting is similar to our old one with the same number of rooms, just a different layout and slightly less space.  It’s about half way between our old house and the land and less than 2 miles from the kid’s school.  It’s nice to have a shorter drive to both places along with where we usually shop.

Now that the closing is behind us, we need to work on unpacking this house and getting the kid ready for school, which starts next week.  Once school starts, the plan is to start talking to banks about construction loans.  Once we have a better idea of the numbers, we’ll go over everything with the builder, then start working with the draftsman on the final plans.  We’ve been told to expect that to take around 2 months.  It is doubtful that we’ll break ground this year, but we are excited to finally be on our way to building our new home 🙂
